Lost Weight with Protein Powder

by Mike Li
(Florida)

I started using protein in my diet as a supplement to get the daily recommended amount of serving per day. I went to the gym 5 days a week and drank about 2 protein shakes a day. I usually had a shake mid morning and immediately after I was done working out. Doing this definitely made me fill more full throughout the day and virtually no hunger pains.

It was different at first, when I started taking it; it was like 1 shake was an entire meal. That usually lasted about 2 and a half hours before Id be hungry again. I was eating 5 times a day but very portioned meals that contained no more than 400 something calories. What really worked was when I would taper my calories throughout the day.

I would eat the most of my calories through the day at breakfast. This would jumpstart my metabolism because I used to be so hungry in the mornings. Not eating from 8 hours of sleeping, I woke up so incredibly hungry, I had to get some breakfast asap. So when I tapered my calories off during the day, my metabolism starting immediately in the morning. After that it was running on high throughout the rest of the day.
I noticed when I did this method, along with going to the gym at least 4 times a week, and never eating junk food, the weight just fell off. This was perfect because the 2 shakes a day as a meal supplement really made the process on eating small meals that much easier. When the hungry pains strike, it was almost time to eat again anyways.

As for the protein, I used whey during the day, and at night I had a casein protein. Always drink casein before bed because it takes about 8 hours to digest. Much needed throughout the night for your body if you want to recovery faster. This would be fairly strict regimen during the week. The weekends are when you want to be careful. Keeping this is mind couldn’t make or break your success for the goal weight you're trying to reach.
The weekends were important to not go overboard on the "cheat foods". One thing I stopped immediately was the drinking of beer. Beer has so many calories and empty carbs that you can eliminate so many calories by drinking water or non calorie drinks. Stop the beer calories people. It will help tremendously! If you need an alcoholic drink, liquor has for fewer calories.

Stay focused on the weekends; make it no more than 2 cheat meals a week. Keep going to the gym and I would suggest taking every 6th week off. It is good to let your body recovery from your intense 4-5 day a week workouts. Always do at least 30 mins of cardio is you can of some sort. It made it easy for me to do this because I would do a different piece of cardio equipment each day.

If you stay focused on what your trying to do, nothing can stop you. You have to change your lifestyle to keep the weight off. Until you stop your eating habits, the weight will just come back on once you stop your regimen.

Hope this can help some people.
